The Okiep Copper Project (OCP) works closely with people in and around Nababeep and Nama Khoi, with a strong focus on young people, open conversations and supporting local businesses.

Supporting local youth

Together with community members, Orion helped set up youth forums in Nababeep and Bulletrap so young people have a place to meet, get support and take the lead.

• The Nababeep Youth Forum works to address problems like drug and alcohol abuse and creates chances for skills training and helping in the community.
• The Bulletrap Youth Development Forum brings young people together to help improve their area, fight poverty and plan for a better future.

These forums give young people a safe space to talk, get training and information, and find tools to improve their own lives and give hope to others.

Talking with the Nama Khoi community

Orion continue to meet regularly with people in the Nama Khoi community. These meetings help keep communication open and make sure local views are heard when decisions are made about the project.

Water borehole at Nabapeep

Resources to assist with the reopening of a water borehole at Nababeep, making this additional water resource available to the Nama Khoi Municipality for community use to assist with local water supply challenges.
