About us

Our Company

Orion Minerals is committed to be part of shaping the future of mining by developing base metal production hubs in South Africa’s Northern Cape. This province is rich in resources and known for its strong mining heritage. Our purpose is clear: Unlocking resources through people to improve the world.

Five facts about us

Listing

Orion Minerals is dual listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).

Location

Orion Minerals is a globally diversified copper and base metals developer and explorer with its flagship Prieska Copper Zinc Mine (PCZM), its near-term Okiep Copper Project (OCP) and the Jacomynspan Project (JMP), all located in South Africa’s Northern Cape.

Our three strategic priorities centre on delivering copper and base metals to a world that increasingly needs them: Advancing PCZM toward production, optimising and drilling at OCP, and building long-term optionality across our exploration portfolio.

The company also has exploration assets in Australia world-class Fraser Range. Learn more about our projects.

Current status

We are well advanced in our transition to a developer and operator, with first production at our Prieska Copper-Zinc Mine targeted for the second quarter of 2027 (a year after financing). Once fully ramped up, PCZM will have the potential to deliver more than 30ktpa of copper and 65ktpa of zinc. These are critical for industries like renewable energy, electric vehicles, battery storage and advanced manufacturing.

Sustainability

Orion Minerals has won multiple Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) awards, demonstrating its commitment to the highest standards from the outset. Learn more about our Sustainability strategy.

Supplying the metals of the future

We are perfectly positioned to supply responsible copper and zinc to support the global energy transition and the demand for future-facing metals. Beyond copper and zinc, Orion Minerals’ portfolio includes high-quality assets with known deposits of nickel, cobalt, Platinum Group Elements (PGEs), gold, silver, tungsten, Rare Earth Elements (REEs), and lithium.
